Kikoy nyota dress is ordinarily clean and neat, with a simple but unique embroidered sun-like design below the neck or middle of the chest. Again, the kikoy nyota dress is made from super soft 100% cotton fabric, providing it with an exceptionally light and soft feel to the skin. At the end bottom of the dress are frills which are twisted and hand-knotted to stop the woven fabric from unravelling.

Kikoy is a traditional woven cloth that was originally worn by the Arab traders in Kenya’s coastal region. Over the years, Swahili fisherman integrated the Kikoy fabric as part of their traditional dress because of its cooling and comfortable nature in tropical climates. We have been part of bringing this amazing fabric to new life by incorporating its colorful variations in a whole line of items such as this African Dress.
